Sound Test

This is a sound test of the new mixer to see how things are going.

As you can tell, the guitar is not balanced enough for a one-take. (Recording the guitar and vocals at the same time.)

Also, here it is after applying compression to raise the volume and not cause clipping.

You might notice that the guitar gets quieter due to the compression as well. That’s a problem. So necessity dictates that I record the separately and then only compress the harsh vocals.

See? I told you I’d record something.

Mixer Problems

So now that I have everything set up I figured I would start getting some things recorded.

Easy, right?

Everything is set up and perfect, right?

………………………………

No.

White noise. So much white noise! I looked under the desk. I searched above the speakers. Inside the bowls! Always white noise.

I couldn’t fix it. Couldn’t find the problem……

Until I recorded without the mic turned on. Still white noise.

Still.

It was the mixer.

Replaced it with a new one, different brand, the next day.

No white noise.

So lovely. So nice. So happy.

…………….

So…. give me a week or two.

Recordings are coming.
